(Feb. 19, 2007) – The University of South Florida Bulls swept the first BIG EAST baseball weekly reporting awards as sophomore catcher Braulio Pardo was named Player of the Week and teammate, senior Danny Otero, earned Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Feb. 19.Pardo, a 5-10 catcher from Lutz, Fla., was honored as the season’s first BIG EAST Player of the Week. Pardo is batting .619 in six games played (five started) including a team-leading 13 hits in 21 at bats. The Gaither High School product is currently riding a five-game hit streak, all of which were multiple-hit games. Pardo, who led the Bulls to the first 6-0 start since 1982 and only the third time in school history, has scored four runs and is second on the team with eight RBI. His 13 total bases is atop the team leaderboad, as is his .625 on-base percentage. Pardo is a perfect 2-2 stealing bases and has struck out just once. As a catcher, Pardo has 33 put outs - including two runners caught stealing - seven assists and no errors. Otero, a 6-3 right hander from Coral Gables, Fla., was selected as the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. The Ransom Everglades High School grad is 2-0 with six strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched this season. A transfer from Duke, Otero started both Friday night games for the Bulls so far this year, beating High Point in the season-opening game 14-0 and a week later the Bulls earned a 10-9 victory over Jacksonville. Otero pitched seven innings against HPU, striking out three and walking just one. Against JU Otero again struck out three and only one Dolphin drew a walk in six innings pitched. The Bulls next travel to DeLand, Fla., on Feb. 20 to play Stetson at 7 p.m. before returning to Red McEwen Field Feb. 23-25 to host Manhattan College. The Bulls and Jaspers take the field at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, then at noon on Sunday.

Can't we have even one discussion on this board without getting into that topic. That is why I dislike the darksiders, they simply refuse to allow any discussion of sports to occur anymore.
