Through the magic of TournamentPilot.com and WhatIfSports.com, I'm simulating the 2006 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament... only I've admitted the top 256 teams according to Jeff Sagarin's USA Today rankings. The parameters are: 1. Top 256 Sagarin-ranked teams are admitted. 2. Pairings are 100% random and NOT based on seeding. 3. In the tournament bracket, the top team is always the "away" team. 4. All games are simulated as played on a neutral site. Click the following link to view the tournament bracket: http://www.tournamentpilot.com/tourney.php?tid=137 I'll be simulating games in batches of 8 and updating the tournament bracket periodically over the next two days. Stop in and see who the REAL national champ should have been! Matt

Hey, the "National Champion" should be able to beat any team they're matched up against, so seedings are theoretically irrelevant, right?

Most conferences' tournaments include the whole conference. Win your conference tourny and your in. The only exception I can think of is the Big East, where not all teams make the tourny.
