Guest r_to_the_izzo Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 IMO. ECU had close to 9K. We were around 6K, maybe 7K. Total was just over 20K.

I'm not certain that that wasn't tix distributed, but that's just what they said. And...that being said - and I'm sure a lot of coordination goes intothis - the crowd shots were few and tight. Seldom did you geta look at the 'not available' aspect of the stadium. And there were very few distance-at-ground-level shots either. Makes for good marketing, in the event was less telegenic, there would be no distractions. And I'm guessing that this wasa success for the inaugural pj.com bowl.

Makes the PapaJohns.com Bowl the worst attended USF bowl games as the Meineke Car Care Bowl last year had 57,937.The Pizza Bowl ranks 21st on the All-Time away list and 36th on the All-Time list. It is the 11th highest C-USA game.Kizarvexis

We filled one side of the stadium, from the back of the endzone to their 30ish yd line. While ECU had from the 30 to their corner of the endzone, and the 14 people that were seated on the other side of the stadium was about 80% ECU, it seemed.Either way, a LOT more than than I expected.

I'd call it a success.

Much better than I thought we would have and better than last year by about 1000. ECU had 7-8thousand, maybe a bit higher.

The attendence looked pretty good on TV too, so I would say that both ECU and USF have nothing to be ashamed of in this game. I was pretty worried to say the least that this game would have basically no one at that huge stadium. The fans and the marketing for Birmingham came threw in a big way. UAB would love to have 32k for their games because they really hurt for attendence. Overall, a very positve bowl game for USF.

Get over your pride guys we're still only ten years old. More fans will come eventually. We had a great turn out, but you can't just say I think we had a lot therefore we had more than ECU.
