Denise Schilte-Brown was named the new head coach of the USF women's soccer team on Wednesday. Schilte-Brown comes from Virginia Commonwealth, where she led the school to NCAA tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005.

In both years VCU won the Colonial Athletic Association, and in 2005 VCU won its first-ever tournament game by defeating Clemson 3-1.

"Her knowledge of the college game and her familiarity with soccer in Florida and up and down the Eastern Seabord will benefit tremendously," said USF Athletic Director Doug Woolard.

Schilte-Brown (pronounced SHILL-Tee) was an assistant at both Eckerd (1997) and UT (1998) before returning to her alma mater, coaching Maryland-Baltimore County for two seasons and then heading to VCU.

She was the Retrievers' MVP in three seasons and still holds the UMBC record for goals with 55.
