Five USF Bulls Help Make Holidays Special For School Kids

TAMPA, FLA. (December 14, 2006) -- Five University of South Florida football players spent their Thursday morning assisting the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office distribute Holiday gifts to every student at DeSoto Elementary School in the Port of Tampa area.

Nick Capogna, Marc Dile, Matt Grothe, Stephen Nicholas and George Selvie were joined by professional wrestler Randy “Macho Man†Savage at the school, where classes filed in one-by-one to receive a bag of gifts from Santa Claus. The annual event is sponsored by the State Attorney’s Office, where the entire staff “adopts†a child and fulfills their holiday gift wish.

“This was a very special event to be a part of,†said Capogna, a junior center. “To see the excitement from the kids was worth it alone. One little boy was so excited to get a toothbrush because he wouldn’t have to share one with his brothers and sisters.â€Â

Nicholas, a senior linebacker, was a favorite photo “model†with the school children. “I’m so glad I was a part of this,†he said.

This is a "Feel Good" story and Capogna has started at Center for us ALL season and done a good job. His family is a great asset and fan of USF Football.
