Bulls consider bowl a big deal

Last year, USF lost 14-0 to N.C. State; this time, the team plans to beat East Carolina

TAMPA - The University of South Florida shook up the college football world Nov. 25 with its 24-19 victory at then-No. 7 West Virginia.

But Bulls coach Jim Leavitt and his players want to drive home the message USF has arrived as a national player by defeating East Carolina in the Papajohns.com Bowl on Dec. 23.

The Bulls (8-4, 4-3 Big East) leave Tuesday for Birmingham to prepare for the Pirates (7-5, 5-3 Conference USA), who have won five of their last six games. The game will be televised at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
