alum giving Chris Rainey cash benefits... Hopefully, UF will be given the death penalty. And we wonder why we get outrecruited at times by them. Cash talks... I'll even admit Leavitt can't compete for recuits when UF alum are knowingly giving cash to recruits. This is similar to the Albert Means story. It's amazing how UF claims to be "the institution" academically, yet they take a recruit that talks in 3rd person (not that Chris Rainey would know what 3rd person speak is) about how great it is being him because he receives clothes, money, gifts, etc.

It's only a matter of time before they tie the benefits to UF alum.

One day, the truth will come out that they set up Willie Williams...

F*ck UF!

I don't know that there is a "UF" tie in all this.  Rainey may (should) be inelligible to play college football, but there has been no evidence to suggest that the donations were made on behalf of UF.  Instead it appears the donations were made by fans of the Lakeland High team.

I think UF has already been cleared in this.

Bien may know better.

We'll find out in time whether Lakeland's 2006 State Championship will still exist or be taken off the books.

Man, but that Rainey is a hell of a player. Wish USF had a RB that played like him next season. Could you imagine on how good USF would be with both Grothe and a player like Rainey??

SIX of Lakeland's players are headed for UF. I bet you dig enough youll find some gator cash in Rainey's pockets.

By the way what has happened to USC from all that stuff about their old Heisman RB money deals? nothing

UF is going to be in the running for a lot of national champions with that kind of talent coming from Lakeland. Still, smazza owes The Sheriff one for USC choking against UCLA which allowed UF to get to that game against Ohio St.  ;)

urban meyer learned how to recruit florida(leavitt is still learning after 10 years)

meyer is a great coach

florida deserves to be in national championship game.they took care of business

this was a rebuilding year for usc and playing ucla is always a tough game.

usf doesnt have a real rival and the fans have no concept about a real rivalry

the pac10 wasnt the best conference for no reason.

lousiville,BE's best would have lost to 4 teams in pac 10 at a minimum

UF recruits itself Smazz....come on. Put Leavitt at UF and there is not a player in the state he couldn't land. He is a players' coach if there ever was one.

Absolutely correct, Bully. Another uninformed comment by Smazza jamming our coaches. And I don't buy the UF gets recruits due to payments. Why? They don't need to. They are one of the hottest programs in the country. Give them their due.

Mayer has brought in what 1 class? Those aren't his recruits.

Agreed, he knows how to get things done, and the great coach is 0-1 vs USF.

You can argue for UM as well. In fact the same scenerio UF is bithcing about now is how they got into the title game in 96 (their only NC).

Agreed and agreed.

No, we dont have a real rival, but to say we have no concept of a rivarly? Your an idiot so I will go slow...we live in Florida. We have FSU-UF, FSU-UM, UF-UG shoved down our throats. Most of us grew up FSU/UF/UM fans, and we know what a rivarly is.

They were the "best" in a biased saragin rating, other than USC the Pac 10 beat no body out of their conference.

UL would handle anyone in the BE but USC. And they could beat them 5 out of 10 times played, even with the cash recruiting Carroll uses.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
