Guest JulmisteForPrez Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Don't know why I didn't see this a few days ago when it was published, but I noticed that the largest crowd for a home game this year was barely 30K?!??!Dude.......that's really bad.http://www.tbo.com/sports/bulls/MGB6RCGN4VE.htmlI hope our fans are more excited about flying/driving to Birmingham than they were about driving a few miles to wacth a home game!

The announced average attendance was 30,222. USF really needs to market the team more to the Tampa area as an event to attend on Saturdays.Kizarvexis

What is sad, is the Tampa area college football fans not recognizing great college football. All in time . . . but it is taking longer than I thought.
Guest JulmisteForPrez Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Very true, gentlemen. Very true indeed.Tampa Bay is a Professional Sports-obssessed market, unfortunately.

Guest JulmisteForPrez Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Very true, gentlemen.  Very true indeed.Tampa Bay is a Professional Sports-obssessed market, unfortunately.Tell that to the Gator fans driving up I-75 to Gainsville from Tampa during football  season.Duh. I think we all know there is a segment of the area that are die-hard college sports fans, but generally speaking (and I'm willing to bet just about everyone understoof I was speaking generally), Tampa Bay sports fans are more interested in professional sports.By and large, they're pretty fickle and front-runnerish too.

Effective marketing perhaps.

If you play in a 40k stadium on campus, 30 to 32 is not bad. But, playing in the Roman Colisium sized RJ, it is worse. The scary thing is that last year the offensive product was bad and produced difficul games to watch. However, this year the offense was exciting and it still did not attract fans. Unless the Big East starts to assign teams to bowls in the order of finish, we will be going to the Birmingham and International Bowls of the world, no matter how good we are. It will be BCS or crap facing non-BCS teams. This is not good.
