Guest Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Fleming is too short... Greg mentions that he won't play QB at USF -- WR or CB is more likely.

Guest Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 doesn't he have to sit out a year as a transfer anyway/I don't think so. He is transferring in after a semester at a Prep School. He never attended the Naval Academy.

Fleming would not have to sit out a year as a transfer. All he attended was a prep school, so his eligibility clock hasn't started. Navy doesn't do letters of intent, so there's nothing to be released from.2. Important to keep some perspective -- he's still just a walk-on, so even if he were to play QB, Grant Gregory will be Grothe's backup next fall, until Voss or any other freshman makes enough strides in learning a new offense to challenge him. Flip, E.T.'s right -- your son's going to be Big East rookie of the year soon, so a midyear walk-on joining the team shouldn't be something to take as any kind of immediate threat.3. Again, I would expect any incoming freshman at a position with returning depth to redshirt, especially a walk-on. Short of a special-teams situation like Ilia Petrov this fall, I can't remember an instance in my three seasons on the beat where a walk-on has played as a true freshman.
