And ND getting the Gator Bowl?  That way we would essentially lose two bowl games, (Car Care/Navy and Gator/ND).  Ok, that makes sense.

USF and Cincy are the 4th and/or 5th teams in the Big East.  Birmingham and International are the 4th and 5th Bowls.

So, there are two ways to push USF from Birmingham -- change the number of teams or the number of bowls.

TEAMS:

WVU, RU, and U of L are the top 3.  If Notre Dame doesn't get a BCS bid, that would be team #4.

RU/UL -> BCS

ND -> Gator

WVU/UL -> Texas

WVU/RU/USF/UC -> Birmingham/International

BOWLS:

If by some miracle RU and UL both get BCS Bids, that would add a 6th Bowl... but that is not enough:

RU & UL -> BCS

ND -> Gator

WVU -> Texas

USF/UC -> Birmingham/International

Notre Dame would also need to get a BCS Bid, removing a team from the 6 bowls:

RU & UL -> BCS

WVU -> Gator/Sun

USF/UC -> Texas

USF/UC/PITT -> Birmingham/International

So, like AstroBull said: "2 Teams + ND in the BCS" is the realistic way USF won't go to Birmingham.

Or, in theory, the PapaJohns.com Bowl committee could select Cincinnati over USF.  But from what I have seen and heard, that just won't be happening.

No offense, even though they did beat us, I couldnt imagine a bowl taking a 7-5 over an 8-4 team that beat a national powerhouse...But hey, anything can happen.
