2.5 mi to the stadium, don't know about party spots. It's downtown.

By cheap, I mean ~$85.00 per night.

It is B'Ham Alabama... your hotel room is probably the best party spot in the entire state.  I am pretty sure half that state is still dry.

Five Points and Lakeview District are the party areas... they are some distance from downtown (prepare to take cabs)...

Last time in Birmingham for the Bama game I had some of the funniest cab drivers. Definitely won't mind the cabs.

The Sheraton dt is pretty nice, but as noted, try to stay near 5 points.  That's the nightlife.  The stadium is in a depressed part if town.  Think Citrus Bowl or worse part of town.
