Guest Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 QB? Perhaps you have not noticed a guy named Grothe? ;-)

CB 5. K 6. P 7. QBAtleast for me. Recruiting a high caliber QB wont be entirely needed until atleast next year.We need another RB as we really don't know what Plancher will give us, and with only about 60 yd/game from our RB position we need something.OL - A good O-line can only help. The o-line now is young ad played beautifly against WVU, but even if we pick up a guy and Red shirt him it wuld be awesome.DL - Looked awesome, but another guy couldn't hurt.CB - We need to find a guy to replace Jenkins. He's leaving after next year.K - Need I say anything?P - I go back and forth about the rugby punt. You dont really get 61 yard punts with traditional style, but having a guy catch it 30 yrds from the line of scrimage is never a good thing.QB - find a nice back up. Alton Voss might be it.

Guest Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Here is my "analysis"...QB - We could use a good backup, but this is not a high priority. Grothe is here for 3 more years - which means any 2007 QB would redshirt one year and sit for two more. For the 2008, the QB position is more important.RB - Ponton and Plancher have two and three more years respectively. If we can get a Michael Bush/Steve Slaton caliber back, then grab him. However, we could wait another year.OL - All ten offensive lineman on the two-deep are coming back next year. We can wait on this as well.DL - We could use one or two DL this year, but all of our starters return.LB - USF has become known as Linebacker U. Losing two starters this year means we should bring in at least two high caliber linebackers. We have decent depth, but it couldn't hurt to have two more.DB - This is where I think we have the biggest need. Both Jenkins and Williams have one more year, and we lose Burnett this year. We could use some high caliber DBs.P - Teachey has done a good job, but a lot of the problems were with the long snapper. It would be nice to land a high caliber punter, one who could start four years.K - This is the biggest need. CJL should actually use his one home visit for a good kicker. All of our coaches should recruit kickers. I would love to see USF sign one and bring in a transfer.

Look at Rutgers.I'm so pumped about the future! I think CJL and the other coaches have done an outstanding job.GO BULLS!

USF could use a few more quality signal callers in the system. Depth is a key ingredient for building longterm success.Outside of RB, K and punting, none of the new recruits should see the field the next two years, so we need to build for the longterm and increase the competition at each position.
BullBlood Posted November 27, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 7 Content Count: 339 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 10/12/2006 Posted November 27, 2006 DL is our biggest need for recruiting this year, followed by DB and OL.We're not recruiting players that will come in and start immediately, so we need to think about these positions in terms of two years from now, not "next year."DL- we'll have a bunch of seniors playing the tackle positions next year with clebert, cray, T robinson, george, riley, buie. You don't want to replace those guys with true freshmen. (it's possible we've already helped this position with Fonua, Warren, and Dixon)DB- again, both starting CBs will be Srs next year, plus backups Gilliam and Denson. We've already got roberts and murphy who will replace them, but we're going to need more depth at this position.OL- Granted we are not losing a lot (if any) this year, but until I start seeing some gaping holes, I think this should continue to be a position of importance in recruiting. CJL was quoted on several occasions, saying that we've only got 6 or 7 guys that he trusts in there. We need to get to the point where we've got 9 or 10 BE caliber linemen if we want to start competing for the BE title. Depth is always going to be most important on the OL. Big games are won in the trenches.RB - we've got 4 decent players returning in Ponton, Plancher, Dorsey, and Samuels, but I would imagine we're going to try to go after 2 more this year to push the starters. We can't EVER afford to be starting walk-ons at any position if we want to be considered a legitimate program. I'm sure we're going to go after a big-time back this year that may be able to compete immediately (don't think we'll get one though).QB - Voss is likely not going to be playing QB for USF (probably safety). We need a decent backup for the next couple of years that will have the potential to take over for MG when he graduates or if he gets hurt.K - We've got 3 young guys. 2 are on scholarship. I don't see us wasting another scholarship on a kicker/punter. This is obviously a position that needs improvement, but I think we can improve with the guys we've already got. Our track record has not been very good in recruiting solid kickers the last few years.

Not sure about the RS guys we already have if they will help. Don't know anything about them - hope they do, Ide, Hermann, Sims & Boger.Regarding QB ... does anyone know if Severino is leaving or is he gonna stay his SR year ? Sure we will see a lot of time from Gregory in the Spring and Summer, he's our #2.
