Guest Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 What spot does UL have to get to to be gauranteed a BCS slot?4 with Michigan either at #2 or #5+... AND LSU #5+3 with Michigan at #4...If LSU finishes 3 and Louisville 4 -- which could only happen with USC and UF losses -- then LSU gets the automatic bid and Louisville is heading to Jacksonville or Texas.

Guest Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 what is the rule about a BCS conference champ being ranked so low that a non-BCS team could receive the auto-bid and the conference champ have to hope for an at-large bid? I would think Georgia Tech would beat WF in the ACC champ game, but that would only move GT up to around 18ish, probably. I think the rule is top 16, so the ACC might not get a bid. No. The ACC could have a champion ranked #50 and it still gets the BCS bid. The low rank applies to the non-BCS teams. The highest ranked non-BCS champion gets an automatic bid if it: A) Finishes in the Top 12, or Finishes in the Top 16 AND ahead of a BCS champion. Part B is probably what you are thinking about. Note: After the 2007 season, the six automatic conferences will be reviewed in comparison with the other conferences. There will be two criteria... how are the conference champions ranked, and how are the conferences top-to-bottom. Since the UofL, Cincy, and USF records in C-USA in 2004 will apply, the Big East should be fine. In fact, at this point, I think the Big East is ahead of the ACC ... but I don't think any other conference has edged out the ACC. So there won't be any changes then, either. The current BCS agreement runs out after the 2009 season.
