USF Completes 2008 Football Schedule with Season Opener Against Tennessee- Martin

TAMPA, FLA. (November 22, 2006) – The University of South Florida has a signed contract to meet Tennessee-Martin in football August 30, 2008. The agreement completes USF’s 2008 schedule, when the Bulls will play non-conference games with UCF (Sept. 6), Kansas (Sept. 13), Florida International (Sept. 20) and North Carolina State (Sept. 27).

Dates for USF’s Big East games have not yet been announced. The Bulls will host Cincinnati, Louisville and West Virginia in 2007, while they will play road games at Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse.

USF has previously announced its final 2007 non-conference schedule, including Elon (Sept. 1), UCF (Sept. 8), Auburn (Sept. 15), North Carolina (Sept. 22) and Florida Atlantic (Sept. 29).

Plus we really cannot afford to bring in the Troy States and Western Michigans when the big schools are paying them $750k for one game appearances at their building.

Tennessee - Martin might not be a great game but it's better than having to travel to middle of nowhere Alabama because we had to do a 2 for 1 to afford a team liek Troy State to come to Tampa.

I understand having to play 1-AA schools....but why not someone we have heard of. I was hoping to see a Georgia Southern or a Hofstra. Oh well, it is what it is.

What do you mean what's the problem? I know most college teams play a D-IAA schools, but why? We pay them to lose to us. It's not USF playing a D-IAA school I have a problem with, it's all D-IA schools being allowed to play a D-IAA school. There's no competition at all.

;D

I am amazed how many times people on here need to be educated when we signa contract to play 1AA teams.

::)

We WILL be playing 1AA teams each year - done deal!

It's great to have our 2007 & 2008 schedules completed so soon.

With 1AA's signed for 2009 & 2010, hope we get an announcement soon for a Home & Away for those years with a BCS team.

Go BULLS !!!

Again, here's the OCS formula:

(1) - 1AA

(2) - Non-BCS 1As

(2) - BCS 1As
