Why do people want Pitt to win?

I WVU wins, they can win the Big East, and go to the BCS.

Do we not deserve it? It will mean wins over VT & Pitt, and a last second 2 pt. loss to Miami.

Of course Miami could still go to the BCS unless they lose one more game in conference. If Pitt Loses to WVU, they will have the same conference record as WVU, with a loss to us, and possible loss to Miami.

If they win, they still have a possible loss with Miami which will create a 3 way tie for the BE Championship.

Do we really want a Pitt team that lost to a horrible ND team and a Toledo team representing the Big East?

Miami and WVU has much better losses.

Miami - VT & Tenn.

WVU - Miami (-2), Wisc.(-7), Mayland (blowout), and..er..Cincy(-2).

Stiill this WVU team is on a tear. They win out and it will be 7 games in a row.  SInce the Miami Game, when we finally got a offensive line rotation down, we will have lost only to the Hurricanes in Miami.

We are definitely not the same team that started 1-4. Then again with 2 freshmen, 2 sophmores, and 1 Jr. on our offensive line, moving the ball was a little more difficult early on.

I know I'm biased, but c'mon. It's Pitt you're picking? armPitt? Please.

What would the conference look like if WVU wins out and Pitt wins out with the exception of WVU?  I'd want both you guys to be higher than Miami and VaTech

SCBullsfan, that is exactly what I hope happens.  WVU & PITT finish 1 and 2 in the conference.

.... Of course, you can guess who I hope finishes 1st.   ;D

I personally hope Pitt because they will be playing us here at Leavitt Land next season.

We need someone (who will remain in the BE) to be in a BCS game from the Big East.  It will help keep us in the BCS.  Pitt seems to have the greatest shot at it so far.

I'm kinda pulling for Pitt. WVU doesn't win any tie-breakers atop the conference (read: with VT/UM), and an unbeaten two-loss Pitt team with a Heisman candidate looks a little better for the league than a four-loss WVU squad.

Here's what I hope: The Backyard Brawl decides the Big East. The winner beats the crap out of Florida State in the Orange Bowl. The loser pimp-slaps NC State in the Gator. Miami and Virginia Tech go to dot-com bowls in the Pacific time zone and travel 42 fans each (that's 38 for VT, 4 for UM).

Go Hillbillies!  Just kidding, I hope WVU wins, especially after a certain article was published concerning the Bulls from some armPitt paper!

Suncoaster:

If WVU won the Big East, they would still go a BCS game. The Big East still has a gauranteed spot. The only team that could trump them would be Notre Dame, and that's not going to happen. The BCS could possibly select another Big East team, but they will take one of us.

From CNNSI mailbag - Stewart Mandel

I wrote two weeks ago about the possibility of West Virginia winning the Big East and getting in the BCS. Are we possibly heading down that road? I'd love to see West Virginia and TCU both playing in January. What about you?

-- Ryan, Hillsborough, N.J.

It's a very, very real possibility. The Mountaineers would have to beat Pittsburgh at home Saturday, which is quite possible, and the Panthers would have to beat Miami on Nov. 29, also quite possible. Would I love to see it happen? That's a pretty strong word, but I'd certainly have no objections.

Gary:

WVU does hold a tie breaker with VT as we beat them 28-7.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
