They interviewed Leavitt after the game and asked about Grothe's performance. He wouldn't pay the kid a compliment. He said he played a heckuva game, but he was impressed at how all 4 quarterbacks were ready to go and really into the game. Jeesh, is it too hard to compliment the kid that might just keep this team out of the crapper this year? Does he love Julmiste that much that he can't just single out Grothe's performance? Does not want the wins to get to his head. The schedule will only get tougher. That my theory anyway.

CJL hates Matt and is just waiting for him to screw up so he can put Pat back in there .... EVERYBODY knows that.

Leavitt isn't big on handing out individual compliments to the younger guys.

He is very level headed and doesn't give any single player a lot of credit or blame in the media. I am certain that Matt gets his share of compliments from CJL in the locker room. I remember a few years back when Spurrier was at Florida they lost a pretty big game (probably FSU) and Spurrier just came to the press conference and blasted his QB. I was very young, so don't remember the specific QB or game but Spurrier just went on and on about how bad he was and poorly he played. I remember thinking if I was a QB comming out of high school no way would I play for this guy.

He would never say anything to take anything away from PJ (rightfully so). It's a team , it's not Matt, and I think Matt knows that.

I saw him do a leaping chest bump with one of the coaches. The kid is a team player, a captain, a leader who knows that whatever is best for the team is what is best for him. CJL did praise him-- "Heckuva game" -- he just didn't over do it since that defense was the real reason we won. Some UCF folks were talking to me and mentioned that they couldn't believe they were still in this game with the way our D was playing. Anyway-- Matt doesn't beed praise to know he is Jim's guy out there. He just needs to keep battling and improving. PS-- the return of the pooch punt brought a smile to my face.
