According to Sagarin ratings the Big East is not the weakest of the top 6 conferences! Maybe the Big 12 and ACC should lose their BCS standing in a few years!  The early part of this year has been a wonderful start for the BIG EAST! ENJOY!

  1  PAC-10              (A) =  78.67      79.24  (  1)     10

  2  SOUTHEASTERN        (A) =  77.74      77.66  (  3)     12

  3  BIG TEN             (A) =  77.26      77.66  (  2)     11

  4  BIG EAST            (A) =  76.78      76.83  (  4)      8

  5  BIG 12              (A) =  76.36      76.01  (  5)     12

  6  ATLANTIC COAST      (A) =  74.95      74.87  (  6)     12

  7  I-A INDEPENDENTS    (A) =  71.82      71.92  (  7)      3

  8  MOUNTAIN WEST       (A) =  71.67      71.80  (  8)      9

yeah, but the Pac-10 being #1 doesn't say much for that poll, IMO.

yea any poll that ranks the pac-10 as the toughest conference loses all credability.

face it, big east is the weakest of the 6...but MUCH better then #7.  mostly because we are also the smallest in terms of teams.  the pac-10 is probably the 5th best.

If I recall, the Pac-10 was ranked the #1 Conference by the BCS last year.  They have 3 quality teams at best, so I'm not sure how that works out for them.  It's not like their bottom teams are better than other conferences.  Oh well.

That being said, the Big East might have 4 ranked teams in a few weeks if Pitt and Rutgers can keep doing well.  Not to mention 2 of those might bein the top 10 (and maybe 1 in top 5).  That's on par with any other conference, especially considering we only have 8 teams.

Hopefully the BIG EAST can keep it up this season. Next week is going to be tough for the conference. I hope Syracuse beats ILL. I was pretty surprised that they gave Iowa a game. What can make the BIG EAST strong is that we have only 8 members in the conference. It looks like we may have just maybe one bad team in Syracuse this season. I think Uconn may be strong this season if they stay healthy. Pitt, Rutgers, WVU, and UL are the class of the BIG EAST right now. Hopefully, USF can get there pretty soon to help out this season.

those Sagarin ratings always lag behind a bit because they use previous years performance. So USCs performance over the past three years (not to mention this year with USC, Oregon, and Cal being rated highly)influences it.

I have never put much faith in Sagarin rankings.

and guys-- it's not a poll, just a computer program.

As for Cuse being bad-- I'd be careful about that one. They surprised the hell out of me with their performance against Iowa. Granted Iowa didn't have their #1 QB and threw 3 ro 4 interceptions-- but still-- they are not going to be an "easy" win. I don't know that we have an easy win left on our schedule. This will be the year of winning (or losing) UGLY.
