Who knows if it holds up, but right now Ean Randolph is shaping as a candidate for team MVP right now, at least on the scoring side of the ball...just burning the USF-McNeese game to DVD and watching him reel in a TD pass there combined with being the bright spot in a close win tonight makes me think this guy may be our standout playmaker this season.  We'll have to see what happens when the competititon picks up.

I wish people would just stop blocking for him because they don't seem to do much good (although Mike Jenkins did have a nice block at the end of his 2nd return, the one that actually counted).  That first return against FIU was called abck and later a FG missed because of a bad block right before the goal line.  That's ridiculous.  The one that got called back against McNese was also unneccesary.   Hard to tell if the 2 penalties would have effected his 3rd run against FIU, but clearly the team needs some coaching on how to block on returns.

So far, my impression of Randoph is that he could return kicks/punts for any team in the nation.  With better blocking (or not blocking) he gets himself on Sportscenter tonight.  Oh well.

the block in the back on the first return was pathetic.  those guys were not even in tackling range of Randolph and someone makes the bonehead play and clips them.

Randolph showed what he's got and I'm sure there will be a lot of blocking coaching this week - comes back to the discipline theme on penalties.  This kid could easily break one against anybody on our schedule and could mean an easy 7 point advantage each game if we get keep our heads in the game.

The first return penalty was a personal foul by Jenkins... he dove at the feet of two players - "blocking below the waist" - but it was, as you inferred, completely unnecessary.

Agreed, total bonehead play by Jenkins.  He did redeem himself though by throwing the last block to get Randolph into the endzone on the second return.  Then he takes his helmet off on the third PR for TD for another 15 yarder.   ::)

I like Mike, but he seems to make some really stupid plays.

Check out the end of the FIU punt return ....All I ask is the officiating be the same for both sides.

Ean has this great ability to come to a near-complete stop during a return, then hit the jets again.

Watch his punt return for a TD last night.  He about stops cold, then hits the gas again.  That move is Barry Sanders-like.
