USF blanks Saint Louis

A pair of second-half goals by Hunter West and Jordan Seabrook, coupled with a solid outing by goalkeeper Dane Brenner, spurred South Florida's 2-0 exhibition win over host Saint Louis. Brenner made seven saves against the No. 25 Billikens. USF, ranked No. 9, by Soccer America, closed out the preseason 3-0-0. The Bulls travel to Miami on Friday to open the season against Florida International.

Yes, it's only exhibition... but ya have to love not allowing a goal.

This will be a fun season... I may actually go see a soccer game or two (I saw a few my freshman year when I was 'covering' them for the Oracle sports... I wrote three or four articles back then and decided journalism wasn't for me).

Well, if you're on the fence, they do sell beer at the games.  It's not a bad incentive for those who need a little push to go see our nationally ranked, and very good soccer team.

9. SOUTH FLORIDA (Big East)

The Bulls weren't intimidated by their move to the Big East, finishing second in the conference tournament. USF has as much talent as any team in the country. Back are junior Rodrigo Hidalgo and sophomores Jordan Seabrook, Yohance Marshall and T&T international Kevon Neaves. Star Hunter West (medical redshirt) sat out last season. Recruits include Diego Restrepo and Anthony Wallace. USF's third U.S. U-17 recruit, Neven Subotic, joined German club Mainz

USF doesn't play any 'big' games at home.  Notre Dame is the only team on the schedule ranked in the Top 25 pre-season, and the Bulls travel to South Bend.  U Conn is also ranked, but USF won't face the Huskies until the conference tournament, if then.

So USF should do very well this year... easy schedule and a talented team could mean a 1-loss or undefeated season.
