LOUIS, Mo. (August 19, 2006) – A pair of second-half goals by Hunter West and Jordan Seabrook coupled with a solid outing by goalkeeper Dane Brenner led the University of South Florida’s shut out No. 25 Saint Louis, 2-0, on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Hermann Stadium. West gave USF a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute with a shot from three yards out. Passes from Jordan Seabrook and Joey Brown set up the Bulls’ score. Brown sent a long pass to Seabrook, who got behind the Billiken defense. With the ball, Seabrook streaked down the left side of the field, forcing goalkeeper Nick Billman to commit towards the sophomore. Seabrook found an unmarked West, who one-timed the shot into the back of the net. Both Seabrook and Brown were credited with assists on the goal. West and Brown were second-half substitutes. Seabrook extended USF’s lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute with his first goal of the preseason. Seabrook struck a shot with the outside of his foot past Billman from eight yards out. Joris Claessens, who received a long pass from Kevon Neaves, slotted the ball to Seabrook in the area. Claessens and Neaves earned assists on the goal. Brenner had a stellar match in net, making seven saves en route to a shut out of the No. 25-ranked team in the nation. The win increased USF’s record to 3-0-0 to close out the 2006 preseason. If they had this depth last year they would have won at least two more games.
