Overall thoughts about Saturday’s 3-hour scrimmage: “We came out with a serious demeanor. They were focused. We’re a young football team. We’re older in some places, at linebacker and receiver, but we’re a young team. It’s funny, we’re a young team, but we’ve had a lot of people play some football. You look at the team, how many seniors are starting? Might have three or four, five or six. I didn’t say we couldn’t be a good team, I just said we’re a young team. Sometimes young teams are pretty dang good.â€Â

And I couldn’t leave without asking Leavitt a question about UCF. I asked him if he was aware Sports Illustrated ranked USF 50th in the nation and UCF 46th. “They’re a lot better,†he deadpanned.

I was thinking about this QB race the other day...about the spring game. I'm like I don't see any way these 2 are even, unless Grothe is a lot worse than what he seemed. Yeah I know he made some bad throws for picks but he looked like he could make some throws on the numbers with touch. Carlton Hill never showed me that.

PJ....well we know what PJ's throws look like. Well this is great news. Even if PJ has more experience and knows the offense better, I'd rather suffer through some growing pains with someone who looks like he can help not hurt this offense.

Look what PJ did in the UCF and Cincy game. PJ's problem is consistency. If you think Grothe is going to be inconsistent why go with less experience?

Big surprise.  All we needed as a mere average qb to dethrown pj.  PJ should move to another position and he should have done it 2 or 3 years ago.  I just hope if MG gets the start that he doesnt screw up right away and CJL defaults back to PJ like he did last year with Denson without actually giving him a decent oppportunity to prove himself.  If they went all summer in practice last year and denson proved he was better, by getting the start, then something must be wrong with the coaching decisions because he never saw action again.  I just dont understand how he determined to be the starter after a full summer, but is never given the chance during the season.

...  I just dont understand how he determined to be the starter after a full summer, but is never given the chance during the season.  

I questioned that also and questioned it when they handed the job to Hill in the Spring ... well, I just hope those "mistakes"(IMO) are in the past.
