(August 17, 2006) - Head Coach Lelo Prado and the Universityof South Florida baseball team unveiled its schedule for the 2007campaign today. Comprised of 56 games, the 2007 schedule will pit the Bulls against fiveteams that received bids to the 2006 NCAA Tournament, including NationalSeed Georgia Tech. Thirty-eight games will be played at Red McEwen Fieldduring the 2007 season, including 16-straight from the end of Februaryto mid March. This year there will be an adjustment to the game timesfor USF's home games. Nearly all three-game series will be played onFriday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at noon. USF opens the 2007 campaign with a three-game homestand versus HighPoint (Feb. 9-11). This will mark the first meeting between the twoteams since 1969. USF holds a 2-0 record all-time over the Panthers.Following the three-game set with High Pont, the Jacksonville Dolphinswill host the Bulls on Feb. 16. USF will then host JU for two games Feb.17-18. The former Sun Belt members have met a total of 94 times with USFtrailing 49-45 in the all-time series history. The Bulls will travel to DeLand, Fla., to take on in-state rival Stetsonon Feb. 20. USF has faced the Hatters more than any other team duringthe squad's 41-year history (144 times). Stetson (38-22 in 2006) earneda berth in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, traveling to the Atlanta Regional.The Bulls will then kick off a 16-game homestand with a three-gameseries versus the Manhattan Jaspers. The Jaspers (34-23 in 2006) earnedtheir first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, falling to theMiami Hurricanes in the finals of the Lincoln Regional. This will be thefirst-ever matchup between USF and Manhattan. The Bulls will then playhost to the Florida Gators in a mid-week contest on Feb. 27. The Bullswill be looking to avenge a 6-5 loss to the Gators last season inGainesville. Central Michigan visits Tampa for a three-game set March2-4. The Chippewas are coming off a 35-23 season and will be making areturn to Red McEwen Field for the first time since 2003. The Bulls playStetson in a mid-week contest (March 6) before hosting the MichiganState Spartans March 9-11. USF holds a 3-0 record all-time versus theSpartans, who were swept by the Bulls in a three-games series in 1991.The Redhawks of Miami (OH) make their first-ever trip to Red McEwenfield as USF faces Missouri Athletics Conference member for the firsttime on March 13. USF welcomes Pittsburgh in the Bulls' BIG EASTConference opener March 16-18. USF and Pittsburgh will be meeting foronly the fourth time with the Panthers holding a 2-1 edge in the serieshistory. Second-year Division I member North Florida will square offwith USF on March 20. This will mark only the second meeting all-timebetween the Bulls and the team from Osprey.Playing its first game away from Red McEwen Field in more than a month,USF will travel to Indiana to face the defending BIG EAST Champion(regular season and tournament) Notre Dame Fighting Irish (March 23-25).The Irish (45-15 last year) were the BIG EAST's lone representative inthe NCAA Tournament last season. The trip will also mark the first timein 2007 that the Bulls travel outside the state of Florida. USF will head back home to take on the Florida A&M Rattlers in atwo-game mid-week series (March 27-28). The Bulls hold a commanding 31-3advantage in the series history with the Rattlers. The Bulls will next make their first-ever trip to Storrs, Conn., to facethe Connecticut Huskies in a three-game BIG EAST series (March 30-April1). Last year's weekend set turned out to be an instant classic as eachgame between the first-time opponents was decided by the last plateappearance. USF holds a 2-1 advantage over the Huskies. UCF kicks off a five-game homestand for the Bulls with a mid-weekcontest on April 3. USF took two-of-three games versus the GoldenKnights in 2005. The Bulls hold a 48-47 edge in the series history withtheir rivals in Orlando. USF hosts West Virginia April 5-7. The serieswill mark the second-ever series between the two BIG EAST foes and thefirst-ever for the Mountaineers at Red McEwen Field. Stetson closes outthe five game homestand, making its second trip of the season to Tampaon April 10.USF travels to the Keystone State to face Villanova (April 13-15) in thefirst-ever BIG EAST contest between the two teams. The Bulls andWildcats have met a total of two times (1975, 1985) with USF owning a2-0 record versus Villanova. UCF returns to Red McEwen Field on April 17 before Rutgers makes its BIGEAST Conference debut in Tampa with a three-game series April 20-22.Rutgers and USF did not meet during the 2006 season. USF and Rutgers metin 1983 with the Bulls take all three games of a weekend series with theScarlet Knights. The Bulls close out their season series with UCF on April 24 in Orlando.This will mark the only trip to UCF for USF in 2007. The Bulls head toLouisville (April 27-29) in Coach Prado's return to the Bluegrass State.USF took two-of-three games from the Cardinals last season with theBulls owning a 35-19 record all-time versus Louisville. The Cardinals(31-29 in 2006) made it to the BIG EAST Championship Game last season. USF will take a break from BIG EAST action when they play host toGeorgia Tech (May 4-6). The Yellow Jackets finished the 2006 season witha 45-16 record, earning a No. 8 National Seed in the 2006 NCAATournament. Seton Hall will host USF in the Bulls' final road series of the 2006season (May 8-10). The trip will mark the first-ever visit for the Bullsto South Orange, N.J. Last season, USF met Seton Hall for the firsttime, sweeping the Pirates at Red McEwen Field in an early-seasonconference series. The Bulls will wrap up the 2007 regular season when they host St.John's. USF will look to improve its record versus the Red Storm, whichtook two-of-three games from the Bulls last season.
