Brett has a summary of the scheduling items on his blog today...

http://sports.tboblogs.com/index.php/sports/comments/schedule_filling_up_fast/

Among the info is this:

... the reason there is a Division I-AA opponent each season is as long as Jim Leavitt is coach at USF - and the NCAA allows a I-AA win to count toward bowl eligibility - you’ll see a I-AA foe each year.

I know we've re-hashed this a bit ... but at least we all know that it's Coach Leavitt's call.

And I have no problem with these 1AA games ... gives our team an easier game to straighten things out and gives younger players time to adjust.

AND Another HOME Game !

But I would hope to get a few 7 home games/season (when we have 4 BE home games).

I don't like having an IAA team become our 6th home game of the season (i.e. like this season).

I don't see the advantage... unless it was a brain bowl competition.

You gotta play D-IAA teams that won't kill SOS in the BCS polls that use entire D-I (A  & AA) in their SOS formulas...The Ivy League schools don't even offer athletic scholarships, while they might have some talent, your not looking at great teams.

On top of that the Ivy League schools haven't played Division I-A teams since the early 80s

The D-IAA teams we need to play are FAMU, Georgia Southern, of NCAA

I would love to play Georgia Southern as our IAA opponent.

We love playing GSU, too.   Their fans are fun.  PLus we beat them the last two times we played them.

We are 0-2 against them ...

1997 (our first year of Football), lost at HOME 23-24 DANG that would have been SWEET !

1998, lost up there when our QB was ailing at the end and we were driving. 23-28

They made the PlayOffs both years
