IU fans wonder why USF & not L'ville

ET, The difference is IU football has no passionate fans. I have a friend here at work who is 3rd generation IU alum and he couldn't name more than 4-5 guys on the IU football team, yet he can rattle off every stat of their basketball team.

He told me he went to 3 football games in college (Randel El was ther QB) and one was Ohio State, in whihc the game was sold out...but 3/4 of the stadium was Ohio State fans. In fact since the 80s Ohio state fans have called IU's stadium Ohio Stadium West.

They are pure and simple a basketball school and that is all they're willing to be. They don't want to put boosters funds into the football program because they fear it could hurt basketball. They've given basketball players football scholarships, so they don't lose basketball scholarships.

It's a sad situation there.

Not if they practice and play with the football team. The NCAA schoalrship hierarchy requires that a student athlete that plays football must have a football sochlarship over any other sport
