Huh?

I thought we lost the first game like 6-1. Ellis didn't pitch because of the supension. All six runs came on 2 HR's one of which was a grand salami.

It'll be tough to catch Louisville in the standings. They supposedly won both of their games today:

USF Splits Doubleheader with Houston

Game 1 Boxscore

Game 2 Boxscore

TAMPA, Fla. (April 24, 2004)-The University of South Florida softball team split a doubleheader with Houston, Saturday afternoon at the USF Softball Complex. The Cougars snapped the Bulls 26-game home win streak, with a 7-3 win. USF responded with a 3-0 win in game two.

In game one Houston jumped on USF starter Danielle Urbanik (12-4) early and never looked back. The Cougars used a two-run home run from Jenilee Skender, in the first inning and an opposite field grand slam from Kristen Glowacz to extend the Houston lead to 6-0, in the second inning. Houston chased Urbanik out of the game after pitching an inning and two thirds.

USF (48-9, C-USA 16-4) loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning and only managed to score one off a Tiffany Stewart groundout, which scored Carmela Liwag.

Rachel Rosenbaum made her first appearance of the year in the circle for the Bulls. Rosenbaum came in and pitched five and a third innings and held the Cougars scoreless until the top of the seventh.

Arelis Ferreris started things off for the Cougars in the seventh with a single through the left side. Jeanie Davis followed her with a double to right center that scored Ferreris from first.

The Bulls added two runs in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a Christie Chapman two-run home run down the left field line.

Crystal Briscoe picked up her ninth win of the year for the Cougars, pitching all seven innings while scattering seven hits.

In game two, the Bulls opened the scoring in the bottom of the third when Samantha Ray scored on a sac fly by Liwag.

USF tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, when pinch hitter Tiffany Stewart grounded out to the shortstop that allowed Rena Rodriguez to score from third. Liwag then singled past the diving second baseman that scored Ray.

The Bulls starter Kasey Cash (3-1) only making her fifth start of the season, held the Cougars scoreless in seven innings of work. She scattered three hits, while walking one and striking out three.

USF and Houston will play the final game of the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
