Reed on the rise

Coach John Harbaugh was impressed with the work of J.R. Reed on special teams Sunday.

"He played really fast and aggressive," the Eagles' special-teams coach said. "As a [kickoff] return guy, he had the one return where he really hit it up in there well. There wasn't much room, but he got some good yards and made some good decisions on the punts."

Reed, attempting to return from a severe leg injury that cost him the entire 2005 season, returned one kick for 19 yards and had to fair catch two punts.

He also played aggressively on defense at safety, registering two tackles and breaking up a pass.

"It's a great story," Harbaugh said. "I hope it's yet to be played out."
