All three of them. The Bulls’ football team could be experiencing a slight shift in how it moves the football downfield. For the last three years, it’s been running back Andre Hall, who had 1,374 yards and 15 total touchdowns last season. In 2006, it might be the Hills aiming to do the damage when USF and Kansas University square off Sept. 23 at Memorial Stadium. It’s possible that USF’s top two athletes are wide receivers Carlton Hill and Amp Hill. The starting tight end, meanwhile, projects to be sophomore Cedric Hill. None are related, but Amp and Carlton bring a touch of elite-level athleticism that could help make South Florida a contender in the Big East for the next few years. Amp Hill already has a national-championship ring from his two seasons at LSU. With a new coach and a congested depth chart in Baton Rouge, Amp transferred to South Florida, closer to his hometown of Jacksonville. He is expected to provide a spark for USF’s offense, based on his eight-catch, 87-yard performance in the spring game. Before the spring, Carlton Hill was projected to be the one throwing the passes. But the 6-foot-3, 215-pound sophomore missed much of spring practice for academic reasons, then was arrested in June for alleged marijuana possession. He has since been moved to wide receiver, where he played sparingly his first season. Still, his athleticism is too good to keep off the field. Cedric Hill, meanwhile, originally signed with Miami but never enrolled. As a true freshman in ’05, he had 10 catches for 139 yards and a touchdown. A 6-foot-3, 240-pound speedster, Cedric Hill had another touchdown reception in the spring game, and could get more looks from USF’s starting quarterback in ’06.
