Reed's first game since playing in the Eagles' Super Bowl loss to New England on Feb. 6, 2005. Reed suffered a non-football related accident following that rookie season. The injury left him with damage to the peroneal nerve that affects the use of his lower leg and foot.At the time, Reed's career was in jeopardy but he has come back and enjoyed a solid first few weeks at camp, not only playing safety, but also returning kickoffs and punts."It will be overwhelmingly emotional, especially for me, missing a year and everybody saying I wouldn't play again," Reed said. J.R. Reed's Miracle ComebackWith Quitin Mikell back home with an eye injury, J.R. Reed will back up Brian Dawkins at free safety, along with Matt Ware. Just the fact that Reed takes the field is a miracle after a devastating knee injury. If he plays well, then the Eagles have a kick returner back. Reed will get punt and kick return time in Sunday's preseason opener. It will be the first game action since Super Bowl XXXIX for Reed, whose career was nearly ended by an injury to the peroneal nerve behind his knee.
