Marino possibly had the greatest arm of any QB, but he wasn't the greatest QB.  Big distinction there.  A QB who doesn't win a championship can't be in the running with others such as Unitas, Montana, Elway, etc.

I never once ever heard Marino say anything about his personal accomplishments.  That's just the perception because the commentators would never shut up about Marino this or Marino that.  It was hard for them too because of all the records he racked up.

Hey now, Marino was the only great offensive player on his team for years...name the other Hall of Famers he played with.

Aikman had between 4-7 on his teams (depending who gets elected)

Bart Starr had 3 others

Staubach isn't a hall of famer and had 3 others who did make it on his teams

Tarkenton was just as much of a stat monster as Marino

I'm not saying Marino was the best ever, but he definitly didn't have the tools that the other teams did. He also was very loyal to the Dolphins, which is why he didn't run to the Steelers when he had the chance in 1996.

Final thing Smaz...How many 1000 yard rushers did Marino have on his teams in his 17 years in the league? Answer...ONE...1996 KAreem Abdul-Jabbar.
