Gil, a native or Ormond Beach, Fla., appeared in 67 games during his four-year career at USF. He scored three goals and 10 assists as a Bull, including a career-best seven during USF’s 2005 run towards the BIG EAST Red Division title. Born in Dover, N.J., Gil was an experienced member of the men’s soccer program, who notched two game-winning goals during his career, including an 87th-minute strike to lift the Bulls to a 2-1 win over then No. 14 Saint Louis (Oct. 19, 2002 – just USF’s fifth win over the Billikens all-time). His play at defensive midfield has also made USF one of the best defensive teams not only in the BIG EAST and in Conference USA, but in the nation. Gil joins former USF players Christian Jimenez and Jeff Cunningham, who both are members of Real Salt Lake, in the ranks of MLS.
