...and Hernol Hall wanted a release because Charles Cunningham wasn't retained as an assistant coach.

"McNees was good enough to have helped us," Everhart said of the 6-3 guard from Shenango, who is headed to Akron. "Hall certainly is a difference-maker, but there wasn't enough time to cultivate a relationship with him. I thought I could do that after I was done recruiting. Players kept leaving, so we had to keep recruiting longer than I expected."

Hall, a 6-9 center from Lon Morris Junior College, is considered one of the top junior-college centers in the country and reportedly has attracted interest from Kentucky and Oklahoma, among other high-profile schools.

Oklahoma, Georgia, Cincinnati, Ohio State and Kentucky are some of the schools that have inquired about Hall. Because Hall wasn't released from his conference scholarship, he will not be able to sign with another Atlantic 10 school. Hall, a native of Costa Rice, could not be reached for comment.

Gregg Doyel Chimed in last month:

May 23, 2006

By Gregg Doyel

CBS SportsLine.com Senior Writer

Excerpt:

Ten for Tuesday presents the 10 most fascinating staff developments -- we're talking about assistants, not head coaches -- of the offseason.

2. Charles Cunningham: Here's another package deal waiting to happen. Maybe Huggins has room on his staff ... anyway. Cunningham is the former Duquesne assistant who recruited stud juco center Hernol Hall to the Dukes. When Cunningham and the previous Duquesne coaching regime was let go, Hall asked out of his Duquesne scholarship. Neither Hall nor Cunningham has picked a new destination. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing it'll be the same school.

Guest BasketBull.

I see that Christmas in June is also happening at your house, Bulliever: up at the a.m. hours digging up stories on Heronal Hall... Ha! Ha!

There'd better not be a lump of coal under our Christmas tree, Bulliever...:-[        ;D

Gotta read Greg's blog:

"[...] If that, Cunningham and the chance for plenty of minutes in the nation's deepest basketball conference aren't enough, the Bulls have another in: forward Melvyn Richardson played with Hall at Lon Morris two years ago. Not sure how many other schools offer a former teammate -- a Spanish-speaking former teammate at that -- the way USF can. [...]"

I'm hearing Christmas music!

How tall is he? He doesn't stand out there, height wise .... nice wide body, though
