Looking at the alum mag in work's library this morn, There's this pic of G. Foreman making the coin toss at the CC Bowl in Charlotte back in Dec.  It struck me as unfair that USF had to play a Carolina school in Carolina for our first bowl game.  This is not the only Bowl w/this type of regional advantage for half of a bowl's contract either.

Anyway, further thought brings me to the conclusion that RJS should add an early/mid Dec bowl game here in Tampa with one half of the contract going to the BE and the other half to the ACC/B12 since the Outback features the SEC & B10 already.  To me its a no brainer and the conference office should push this 'cuz it helps out recruiting in FL.  Why isn't there anyone trying to get this off the ground and how would someone go about it if they wanted to?

Because Bowl games lose money...especially the early ones. While Tampa area businesses benefit dearly from the Outback Bowl and the game has made money from time to time, early bowl games don't really do the same.

Not to mention the number of manhours that goes into putting the game on, etc. Florida Citrus Sports, who run the Orlando bowl games, had to double man hours and have lost a lot of money on the Champs Sports Bowl. They are however, one of the lucky ones as they are getting the game moved closer to the New Years Holiday which better affilations and payouts. However, it took 4 years of losing A LOT of money to do that, something most bowls aren't willing to deal with.

If it's not fair for a Florida team to play a North Carolina in a bowl game in  NC, then why would it be fair for a team from out of state having  to play a team from FL in Florida.

USF was fortunate they were invited to play in the Meineke  Bowl.

Maybe it's me, but I look at USF as the embodiment of many things including the teachers, students, coaches, fans, administrators, etc.

Soup certainly speaks in a tone unlike that of someone that feels any attachment to the university.

He may have claimed to be a USF fan, but I think we all know better...
