(June 14, 2006) – The University of South Florida softball team jumped up seven spots to end the 2006 campaign ranked No. 18th in the nation, as released by the National Fatspitch Coaches Association today its final USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll.The Bulls (50-25), who share the 18th spot with Oklahoma, were ranked 25th in the last NFCA Poll released on May 3. USF closed out its season earning its eighth berth in the NCAA Regional. The Bulls went undefeated in regional action, picking up a pair of wins against FAU and a victory against then No. 22 North Carolina. USF earned its first-ever appearance in the Super Regional – a field of 16 – and then traveled to play UCLA. This is a bunch of ******** and I hope the girls look at it from my perspective and come out to play with a chip on their shoulder next season. We would have beaten half of those teams left in the super regionals the way we ended the season playing. A couple PAC-10 teams might have had our number, Tennessee, Texas... but not more than that.
