USF CONCLUDES SEASON WITH COMPETITION AT NCAA’S

BLACKMON POSTS PERSONAL BEST IN HIGH JUMP

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 8, 2006) -- The University of South Florida track and field programs concluded their respective 2005-06 campaigns with action at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday evening.

“We recorded some good marks, but just weren’t able to break into the finals,” assistant coach Todd Morgan said.

A trio of Bulls, sophomore Errol Blackmon, senior Jonathan Miller and junior Taylar Stallings, represented USF at the national level.  Unfortunately none of the student-athletes were able to advance to the finals.

Blackmon finished 21st in the high jump, posting a personal-best height of 7-00.25.  The mark is the third-highest in program history and he is only the fourth USF student-athlete ever to reach that height.

Miller narrowly missed advancing to the finals of the pole vault, clearing a height of 16-10.75 to finish ninth overall.  Stallings earned 12th in her flight in the discus, recording a distance of 153-8.

Wednesday’s results mark the official end to the USF 2005-06 athletics campaign.

Time for everyone to stand up and give a big round of applause for our athletic department's first year in the BigEast.

There is a lot of work to do but other than basketball there is a lot energy and optimism for great things to come in all of our programs. Our hoops still needs some direction and nice shot of energy. Maybe we can bring back David Sills ;^)
