(June 1, 2006) – University of South Florida softball player Tiffany Stewart was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team, as announced Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Stewart garnered the Academic All-America distinction for the second-consecutive year. The senior has compiled a 3.72 GPA in psychology while leading the team in runs scored (42), RBI (49) and walks (29). The Odessa, Fla., native is tied for the lead in home runs with nine and is currently ranked second on the all-time home run list with 25. Stewart hit two grand slams this season and is the only USF player to record two five-RBI games. “This is a great honor for Tiffany,†coach Ken Eriksen said. “She works hard both on and off the field, and she deserves all the accolades she receives.
