USF-Wake Forest Basketball Game Is Set For Forum

TAMPA - The University of South Florida's men's basketball team will play Wake Forest in downtown Tampa on Dec. 29 as part of a home-and-home series with the Demon Deacons.

With the Forum hosting the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in March, USF was seeking an ACC opponent for this season. USF will visit Wake Forest during the 2007-08 season.

"The opportunity to play downtown is exciting for our players and our fan base," Bulls coach Robert McCullum said. "It will give us some exposure [downtown] and enhances our nonconference portion of the schedule."

This will be the Bulls' first game in downtown Tampa since USF beat Central Florida 73-72 on Dec. 31, 1997 at the Ice Palace. The Forum also will host a game between Florida and Florida A&M on Dec. 17.

In addition to Wake Forest, the Bulls' nonconference schedule will include home games against Missouri State and Stetson and a visit to UAB, tentatively scheduled for Dec. 27. USF also will play three games in the Duel in the Desert Tournament in Las Vegas from Dec. 17-19 against UNLV, Norfolk State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

why is the ACC tourny in Tampa?

Duke & UNC must be pissed.

Trip I saw that. That's why I'm not really upset. There would be no point in holding it in the Sundome then.

The ACC tourny is in Tampa because it will bring a lot of money to the area. The SEC tourny is in Tampa in 2008 also. WIth the Frozen Four in 2012.

i don't like this, we barely get fans to come to the sundome to watch games, yet they want us to go to the forum to play a game.  nobody will show.  we will lose home court advantage.  this is a bad idea, all games should be played at the sundome, our home

That is not true.  Not in late december.

Students won't show no matter where it is held.  It is during winter break... everyone is gone.  Only local alumni and casual fans will go, even in the sun dome.

This will not hurt attendance.

If it were in november or early december, i would completely agree.
