(May 30, 2006) – University of South Florida head volleyball coach Claire Lessinger announced today that the Mollie Echols has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the 2006 squad. Echols will enter her rookie season at USF filling the defensive specialist/ libero spot on the roster. Coming from Newsome High in Lithia, Fla., she garnered All-Hillsborough County Honorable Mention honors from 2003-04. She led her team in kills in 2003-04 and aces in 2003. Echols has played club ball for the Sandspurs in Tampa for the past five years and helped her team qualify for the 2005 Junior Olympic National Tournament in Salt Lake City. “Mollie is a great addition to our program,†Lessinger said. “We are always trying to get better defensively and by Mollie deciding to play at USF – we just got better.  She has natural instincts and good ball control, which are the two key essentials to frustrating any opponent.  We look forward to her making us better come August
