The only purple that should be used it already-clicked links. I think even the amount there could give people the wrong idea about colors, even if it is a style-guide approved suitable complement.

"Already clicked links" -- many websites do not format their hyperlinks, allowing the visitors browser's to display the colors.  Most browsers show links you already visited in purple.  LDB thinks this is the only purple that should be on USF's site.

I think even the amount there could give people the wrong idea about colors,

LDB still thinks there might be too much purple...

even if it is a style-guide approved suitable complement.

... even if purple is a "suitable complement" for green and gold.

Thanks Jim--didn't realize I needed subtitles! Though I'd say if I had said "wrong idea about our colors it would have flowed a bit better. That, and unclarified pronouns all over the place... whoops!
