(May 6, 2006) – The University of South Florida baseball team (20-28) dropped both games of a doubleheader with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (36-12) on Saturday, May 6 at Russ Chandler Stadium. The Bulls fell 7-2 during game one of the double dip and 4-3 in game two.  In the first game of the doubleheader, USF fell to Georgia Tech 7-2. The Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets scored a combined seven runs during the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Brian Baisley went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the contest. Joey Angelberger registered his 30th RBI of the season, hitting 1-for-4, including a double versus the Yellow Jackets. Starting pitcher Davis Bilardello was saddled with his fifth loss of the season, allowing four runs on six hits in five and one-third innings of action. Bilardello had a perfect game through three innings, before allowing four in the bottom of the fourth.  USF lost to Georgia Tech in the second game of the day, 4-3. Trialing by two runs in the top of the eighth, an RBI single by Matt McHargue drew the Bulls within one run. Earlier in the contest, Brandin Daniel hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 2-all. The homer was the fourth of the season for Daniel. Right-hander Daniel Thomas suffered his fifth loss of the season, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six Yellow Jacket batters in four innings of action. The pair of losses extend USF’s current skid to five games. USF will travel to DeLand, Fla., to face the Stetson Hatters on Tuesday, May 9.
