AUSTIN -- Texas defensive end Chase Pittman said Monday he will transfer from the school at semester's end.

Pittman, a sophomore from Shreveport, La., has not yet decided where he will transfer.

"I've really enjoyed my time here with Coach (Mack) Brown, the staff, all the guys and everyone at UT, but I'm at a point in my life where I'm looking for a fresh start," Pittman said.

He is the younger brother of Cole Pittman, a two-year Texas letterman who died in an auto accident in 2001.

Chase Pittman appeared in 10 games for Texas last season, posting 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Pittman redshirted in 2002 due to a shoulder injury.

"Chase had a great spring and was competing for a starting spot, so we hate to see him go," Brown said. "We wish he would stay, but we certainly understand."

Pittman had three tackles and a sack in the Longhorns' spring game earlier this month.

Sure he'll go home to play . . .

Mike...If the kid was originally from Florida and was considering transferring I would agree completely. There doesn't appear that he has any relationship to Florida or USF, so he's just one of many kids transferring across the country. I agree with Bulls 96.  ;D
