Just wondering if anyone knew of any big name basketball recruits that seriously considered us, over say the past 5 years, and decided to go somewhere else instead. I know the Graham twins could fall into this group. Velcro, I assume you might know a few names for the list.

Casey Sanders

Verdejo (just committed to Arizona after signing with Temple last year but was ruled ineligible.) He probably would have come here if Seth was still around.

among others

Graham twins were not considered marquee recruits out of HS

Erroyl Bing (ECU), not exactly marquee, but turned out to be a very nice player.

If you want to go way back... i saw Chris Webber had a USF recruiting letter on the top of his pile of recruitment letters on a tv special last year.  That must have been some serious wishful thinking.

Not to bring up a sore subject but since you asked: Cornelius Ingram.

CI was a football recruit Bball was in passing

no sustained major push to get him, we were late in the game

this should be about those we had a real shot at

There was also a player on ETSU last year that wanted to play for us, but SG passed on, then he had a great game agasint us, even though we beat them bad.  I totally forget his name, but must not have been too big if he went to ETSU.

Was going to mention CI...

He signed for football, but I understand that he was more highly touted for basketball. He can ball.

If you go back further than five years, the list of people Greenberg went after is long and distinguished (and will only stir up bad memories.)

You can field a pretty good team with some of Seth's near misses:

Center

Casey Sanders (Duke)

Nick Smith (IL)

Power Forward

Kenny Walker (AL)

Ed Nelson (Ga Tech/ UConn)

Amare Stoudamire (NBA ROY)

Small Forward/ 2 Guard

Gee Gervin (UH)

Desmond Allison (UK)

Schea Cotton (AL)

Point Guard

Keyon Dooling (Mizz/NBA)

Jamie Brewer (AU/NBA)

Oh, what might have been.

Amare Stoudamire? Come on...it was clear he was never going to get to campus (anybody's campus) from both a talent and academic standpoint. He came to a couple Bulls games but was not a near-miss in any sense of the word.
