I've been in 7 Hurricanes. My best Advice -

  1. Tape up your windows if you don't have hurricane proof windows. The one time I didn't do it, the wind blew my window in at my old apartment. Even if it breaks, you won't have glass all over the place. I use packing tape and make a british flag out of it lol
  2. Clean and then fill up all of your sinks and tubs with water. I had no water for like a week in 2 different hurricanes. I was prepared the third time.
  3. Set your fridge to the highest levels and freeze err'thing!!!
  4. Get some glow sticks at the dollar tree in addition to batteries. They have hooks on them, can light up a room pretty well, lasted for 5 hrs and were very useful.
  5. Do your laundry prior to the hurricane. It would be a bad time to not have electricity and clean clothes lol

This is a good one that people don't think about.
