Understand many don't expect our beloved BULLS to defeat the Cougars of BYU.

BUT . . . if/when we are winners - does your outlook of this 2022 team change?

Go BULLS !!!

Yup. Right now gun to my head I think we win 5 games.

But if we beat BYU I'm bumping it up to 8 or 9

A 2-0 USF with a win over BYU going into the Swamp will definitely get some attention. Also, beating BYU means that we can compete with most of the teams on our schedule. 8+ wins becomes a possibility with a win in that game and a bowl game becomes the expectation.

Beating BYU would signal the team has turned corner....been waiting 2 years for that signal.

BYU is a well coached team...but athlete wise we can definitely play with them.

Yes we broke the losing streak and turned a corner beating a ranked team.  We have the talent but we need the coaches to step up.

Hell... If we keep it close ill be excited.

Sept 2, 2021 - NC State 45 / USF 0

Sept 19, 2020 ND 52 / USF 0 (2nd game)

Aug 30, 2019 - Wisc 49 / USF 0

Based on our opener stats the last three years, i can't get excited about opening day anymore.

If we lose like we did to NC State and Notre Dame, I think most will lose all enthusiasm for this season pretty quickly.

But if we beat BYU? All aboard the hype train baby, 12-0 here we come!

Opening day is always a crap shoot.  Teams come that basically are brand new.  New personnel, new coaches, and just 4 weeks of practice.  Overall, what player mix (experience) do you have combined with coaching staff preparation process.   Then it is in game adjustments.    I get people are optimistic, we have new talent and experience talent from big programs coming in but the question is will they gel.  Seems like the progrum philosophy is working amongst the players but will this translate onto the field and during game time.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
