I love how people will say that something isn’t going to happen anyway and why be mad about it, then the exact thing will happen and they will defend it as being perfectly reasonable. I sure how CJS isn’t getting an extension because that idea is insane but if he in fact does that’s a problem that should not be okay with anyone in our fanbase but somehow will be excused away.

Is not really giving a **** whether he gets one or not, at this point in time, the same as excusing it away?

It’s complicit, I don’t know how seeing the results of premature extensions couldn’t infuriate ever fan we have. It can only hurt us and serves no purpose towards benefiting us.

That's not true, especially when we have no idea what this supposed extension would look like. You're saying that solely because you have the CJS story with only one ending.

Not true at all I’m saying it because he still has three years under contract, if he succeeds he will renegotiate for more money and if he fails we will buy him out but in no situation no matter how hard you try to come up with fringe scenarios is it’s beneficial to extend a contract of a failing employee three years before it’s necessary. At best the conversations should happen next offseason and even that doesn’t seem horribly necessary.

1. The 2020 season just does not count because of COVID.

unless there was a specific clause in the contract it would count!

or unless both parties modified the contract

that said he coach needs to demonstrate he can recruit and fix his qb situation

President mazza wouldnt give him a contract extension now.

At least we got our coach from Clemson's assistant coach pool.  UF reached down into the Sun Belt for its new coach.  Maybe Napier is a good coach, but UL did not exactly face stiff competition this season.  Their only game against a P5 school was Texas, and they lost that.

Of course CJS only has one FBS win in two years, so he has a lot to prove before anyone can say hiring him was a good idea.

Not reading this thread at all, but the title is nonsensical.  Who in their right intelligent mind would think a contract extension of any sort would be warranted for Scott.

According to the scuttlebutt, VPMK. Our rumor mill isn’t the most reliable but if it’s right this time it’s an indefensible unforced error.

If they extend?? Instead of another cash infusion into an unknown how about the raises are merit based. CJS makes $1.5 mil (pretty sure) seems like enough for the current results. If the Plague year was a gimme then he should be up for adding a year to his contract w/ only merit raises based on performance. If we get to a bowl? Let it get him a few hundred thousand more. He has commented on several occasions that he is a long-term deal. Would think right now, it might be more important to ante up for higher asst coaches pay-lure some in from...?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
