I know a lot of people trash "traditions" people try to start saying that it is dumb and has nothing to do with ... blah blah blah.

We have a few and eventually will have more and stronger traditions. Embrace the ones you love and ignore the others.

Does anyone know the story of "Howard's Rock" at Clemson(Death Valley)? A fan gave it to a coach back in the 60's, brought it from Death Valley, CA. ;) Well, the coach used it as a door stop for a decade, think a new coach asked about it and figured he'd make something more of it.

Mr. 2 Bits at UF and his wife were FSU and Citadel grades . . . he wanted to get the crowd excited.

How many teams sing "Sweet Caroline" or play Zombie Nation . . .

Embrace these crazy acts. And . . . you may not like it, but you will Learn to LOVE TAMPLONA ! :)

Go BULLS !!!

Our school doesn’t have any traditions. What is a money down? We have the running of the “bulls” at the start of the game, then what?

I do enjoy the hype man that is there. I thought he was only a lightning hype man, that dude has to make bank.

I sat with some season ticket holders this last game, and that was the first time I heard anyone sing our fight song or the alma mater song.

The other problem is, to build tradition you need fans in the seats.

I've ALWAYS heard the Fight Song and Alma Mater.

Agree 100% regarding "Fans in the Stands".

Yep, if no one is there it does not matter.

I remember the "towel guys" who'd run around the stadium concourse hyping up the crowd.  I assume they graduated and could no longer fit into their towels.  I was hoping for "towel girls", but it never happened....

and another one was the pushup thing for points scored....not much of that happening lately...

I used to think it was cool when the students would run around the ring between the first level and second level after a win.

I think that kinda died down as we weren't (and still haven't) been winning as consistently.

I also think the Wizard thing is kinda neat but could take it or leave it.

As for War Flamingo, copying another school's tradition and doing it at a lower level with a silly bird that doesn't have anything to do with strength and courage makes it even more of a travesty.  I think it is terrible.

Probably a quarter of the teams in college football refer to 3rd down as the money down.  Unless the opponent goes for it on 4th down then that becomes, again, the money down.
