I think Currall "retiring" is purely coincidental with realignment kicking back up. I think it had more to do with the trustees' not seeing enough out of the Pres in Tally and some missteps. I'm speculating, as much as everyone else though. Next pres will have to be politically savvy, keep us on track for the AAU, and truly embrace the Athletics culture shift we're in dire need of.

Disagree…this is not rocket science for a president. We can still show our academic metrics without the current President who by the way will still be president when all this goes down. Based on JTrue’s comments we will have about 4/5 weeks with no hired president.

And those 4-5 weeks are exactly when big deals are going to be made.

USF is screwed.

Conference realignment is not made at the AD level.  It just isn't.  Who is running the show at USF when Currall leaves.

I can't see us starting the Fall semester without someone in place. So, that would be like 4 weeks.

The new president will be running the show when Currall leaves. That person will be hired between now and then.

Well, I hope he is spun up on this by then, and is ready to hit the ground running on day one, the day after Currall leaves.

This is a really big deal.  The biggest deal of this person's presidency, probably.

I’d say about a month. Couple weeks to put the search stuff and official quotes together. Talk about what USF means to the community. Make statements about how fast we’re growing. Officially take applicants for a week. Interviews and hiring within a week. I’ll go with wrapped up by August 1st.

Typo. Meant September 1st, but you got the idea.

Well, it will technically be Ralph Wilcox for a few weeks, but he's not going to be "running" anything. And no decisions will be made.

Meanwhile conference realignment will take place during August.  This stuff happens fast.  Very fast.  The person that moves the fastest usually wins.

And the person that thinks our president has any bearing on whether we get promoted to the P5 will always be wrong.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
