Wonder if we can convince BYU to join football only now. 5 of the last 7 AAC champs would have made the playoffs under this format.

Was telling a buddy of mine we should scrap the rest of the bowl game system and implement a backup tournament of the next best 16 teams. Kind of like footballs version of the NIT.

Can name each game of that tournament after current bowl games and set the championship as the most recognized bowl game not taken by the CFP already.

Better than having half of CFB in a bowl game and could add some really exciting games if you ask me...

This news would be better incentive for them to join the MWC ....

Their only path is to be in the top 6. An AAC champ could get in at 17 or 18 even. I still think they will say no unless they get shut out over many years. Their competition with Utah decreases their chances for a G5.

Again, unlikely in the short term based on my opinion above.

The other news is that up to 10 bowls will be dropped. I wonder how many AAC bowls this will include...I’ll say about 3.

Bowls will be used as a part of the playoffs...

Hell yeah! This is much better than the 8-team proposal I figured would be the result. This would be a massive boon to the AAC.

It's just a **** shame that this change will come just a few years into the AAC's current 12-year TV deal with ESPN. If we were renegotiating at any point after today, with this 12-team playoff on the table, our TV rights would certainly be higher. Not by a significant amount, but a noticeable amount sure.

I wonder if there is a “look in” clause at the mid point of the contract?

CCS, CJS and CJL never thought of it ..... but at least CCS thought of finishing in the Top 21.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
