SEC MBB Tournament is at Amalie in 2022.

Until the State government passes the transgender thing and then all bets are off.  Unless the SEC tournament isn't an NCAA thing.

Nice addition to the schedule for Kelly especially so early into the off-season. I am curious who else he can get in the non-conference because alot of holiday tournaments have already announced their full fields:

  • Charleston Classic (11/18 - 11/21) - already has full field, including Temple
  • Empire Classic (11/18 - 11/19) - full field
  • USVI Paradise Jam (11/19 - 11/22) - full field
  • Roman Main Event (11/19 - 11/21) - full field, including Wichita State
  • Hall of Fam Tip Off (11/20 - 11/21) - full field
  • Maui Invitational (11/22 - 11/24) - full field, including Houston
  • Fort Myers Tip Off (11/22 - 11/24) - full field
  • Roman Legends (11/22 - 11/23) - full field
  • Hall of Fame Classic (11/22 - 11/23) - full field, including Cincinnati
  • Battle 4 Atlantis (11/24 - 11/26) - full field
  • NIT Season Tip Off (11/24 - 11/26) - full field, including Memphis
  • Orlando Invitational (11/25 - 11/28) - only 3 of 8 teams announced, none from the AAC (UCF last appeared there in 2017 and previously in 2007; USF has never participated)
  • Emerald Coast Classic (11/26 - 11/27) - full field
  • Diamond Head Classic (12/22 - 12/25) - only 1 of 8 teams announced, none from the AAC
  • Gotham Classic (TBD) - only 2 of 7 teams announced, none from the AAC

There are a few additional tournaments that have not announced anything (e.g. Wooden Legacy) so there may be some additional options for landing spots this year. But as of now only 5 AAC teams are locked into a holiday tournament.

Why would we play them at Amalie Arena?

Are we playing the return game at wherever the AAC tourny is the following year?  It is Auburn, not UF or Kentucky.  Guess they just want to play in a quarter full arena instead of half full.

They just want to do a run through before their tournament.

Both the Women's and Men's teams have played at Amalie in years where a conference, or NCAA, tournament is scheduled to be played.

Our most successful season was predominantly played at Amalie.

Will Season ATicket holders get a ticket or will this not be included?

Not like I'm going to get this changed but they are coming to our city, they should play in our house. Don't really know how Mike would let that be dictated to him. Don't care about their experience at Amalie.

Its 1 non-conference game out of around 15 - let's see what Kelly can do with the rest of the schedule before we get too bent out of shape. I'd rather play Auburn at Amalie, if playing their was a deal breaker, than Elon at the Beer Dome. We were going to play LSU at a neutral site last year and we've played Kentucky down in Sunrise before (and returned that trip to Kentucky), so a neutral court game against an SEC team is nothing new, but at least this time its only 10 miles away from campus.

Kelly has built up enough currency with me to not be second guessed on scheduling, and without seeing what the rest of the non-conference schedule it looks a little premature to start whining about it.

This makes perfect sense and I would much rather it be the Bulls playing someone in Tampa than a team like UF or FSU coming to have a game in our own backyard.

Letting a road team that was below .500 last season dictate where your "home" games are is a pretty weak look.

I will ask.

I believe that the game has been included in the past when we have played at Amalie.
