University just finishes a medical school complex along with some other projects prior to the C plague sneaking into the US. It's widely reported that their were pay cuts and cut backs in athletics. Lot's of folks out of work. Many unknowns taking place in the Gov and Country due to the regime change. So, do you think the top dogs of the university and trustee's might be a bit gun shy to break ground on a $10-15-20-40 mil project?? Do you think they may not want the bad press or worse.....Get Cancelled!! (Ha..had to do that) "Optics"? all about Optics. Of course the opposite tack could be done...Jobs Jobs Jobs...big project coming to Tampa!! Yea!! USF...yada yada... Just wondering about this... Never know?? Why would any of that matter, as the money was donated for that specific purpose?

Agree but, donated money vs lay off's and cut backs. That's why I'm thinking "optics" -"image"?? They know and we know that donations have come in from outside sources but, the public may view it differently. plus the media just loves to crucify someone-anyone anymore. Interestingly, Appalachian State is on a building spree. Their stadium will soon expand to 30,000 people, new athletics buildings, etc. their doing it with donations in hand and on-going along with debt service. ECU has also been on a building spree enhancing their stadium. Bet if we had a stadium we too could enhance ours.....(kiddin!) Anyway, seems USF has been at the $20mil collected number for a long time. If we need $40mil you and I may be very very old before a ribbon is ever cut......

I am more worried about the optics of being a terrible football team...build the **** thing...let’s get on with it.

Building is good, it provides jobs to the construction industry, lowering the unemployed rate. IMO, it’s poor management to sit on funds that were donated for a specific purpose (unless they can legally be used for other things). Construction costs tend to rise as the economy improves. There are two parts to the building, the IPF and the offices. We don't have enough for both right now. The IPF is nice for the players, the offices are nice for the people who decide what and when we build.
