The P5 isn't made of stupid people- they did exactly what they needed to do to shut down any chance of being sued by the other FBS members not in the P5 by adding enough total teams to have a majority of the FBS teams in general. Prior to that-- during the BCS days-- the lesser teams had a point that they were being excluded unfairly.

That is gone after they raided just enough squads to get over the hump on majority. Even though that number keeps increasing, they can probably show precedence that the system in place was there before the majority became eclipsed yet again. And when in doubt- they can lean on the agreement with several independents and the others in the G5 as allowing potential inclusion to the playoffs even though they are clearly using the "committee" as their scape goat to blocking any real chance that a team from the AAC or otherwise gets a legit shot.

I absolutely love cfb but I am simply not interested in the playoff matchups. 

BYU CCU had some crazy ratings, some kind of record... that's the kind of match-up I think people like. 

But I could be wrong. The mainstream public probably doesn't know any better than Clemson Bama notre dame osu

True...but if it’s the same 8/10 teams every year maybe some P5 teams will start to want to widen the playoffs. It’s such a mess now. I also wonder if antitrust is legally possible?

You're not getting a G5 team in there with a 4 team playoff .... they don't even have a legit argument.  You'd have to expand to a minimum of 8 with a mandate of at least 1 G5 team or else it ain't happening
